Sarita Patel joins Greg and Marc on Moped Outlaws to discuss leadership, healing, creativity and independent storytelling.

Episode #256: The Worth We Carry with Sarita Patel

What makes a person valuable?

For much of the world, the answer has been reduced to money, influence, access, productivity, or the size of a financial portfolio. In this episode of Moped Outlaws, Sarita Patel joins Greg and Marc to question that entire system of measurement.

Sarita is the founder of Madmana Studios, a heart-centered entertainment studio born from her desire to bring creative people together, help good ideas survive, and place human well-being closer to the center of the work. Her path has carried her through Andy Warhol’s orbit, Lucasfilm, Silicon Valley, independent filmmaking, entrepreneurship, advocacy, caregiving, and rooms occupied by people with extraordinary wealth and influence.

Yet this is not really a conversation about famous people or powerful institutions.

It is a conversation about what Sarita learned while moving through those worlds—and what she believes must come next.

Service Without Servitude

Sarita draws an important distinction between being in service and living in servitude. Meaningful work can ask much of us. It can challenge us, shape us, and even become part of our identity. But it can also keep us enthralled long after the road has begun calling us elsewhere.

Together, Greg, Marc, and Sarita examine the environments people become entangled with, the compromises that come with belonging, and the difficulty of recognizing when it is time to pivot toward a healthier expression of one’s gifts.

Sarita describes herself as someone who can see both train wrecks and opportunities approaching. Her instinct is to place a foot in the closing elevator door, interrupt the expected path, and create enough room for another possibility to emerge.

Friends, Allies, and Reciprocity

The conversation also turns toward friendship and the difference between people who enjoy our presence and people who will truly stand beside us.

Sarita is no longer merely looking for friends. She is looking for allies—people whose care is reciprocal, whose support is not dependent upon convenience, and who understand that none of us can continue pouring from an empty vessel.

That same principle shapes her vision for Madmana Studios. Rather than building another competitive creative hierarchy, Sarita imagines independent storytellers gathering into a supportive ecosystem: sharing resources, strengthening one another’s work, and telling human stories through something more benevolent than the systems that have traditionally controlled them.

What Is a High-Net-Worth Human Being?

Late in the conversation, Marc questions the phrase high-net-worth individual. The term is normally reserved for people who possess considerable financial assets. But what happens when worth is no longer measured at the cash register?

What if every person is already a high-net-worth individual?

What if human worth is sacred, inherent, and present long before anyone produces, achieves, accumulates, or proves anything?

From there, the conversation opens into unconditional love—not as a sentimental transaction, but as a way of respecting another person, another life, and the astonishing fact that any of us are here at all.

Sarita believes people will lead themselves through uncertain times by forming tribes rather than clubs: communities that have one another’s backs and can connect with other communities without demanding sameness.

This ride moves through family legacy, grief, power, creativity, elder care, child protection, entrepreneurship, spiritual practice, independent filmmaking, capitalism, human value, and the occasional tree hug.

But underneath all those roads is one enduring question:

Can we remember what a human being is worth before the world tells us what price to place upon them?
